  • Our barn may not be right for you if you do not want to be involved in daily care of your horse, We are a self-care facility which means that individual owners are responsible for daily turnout, stall cleaning, feeding and pulling horses in every evening.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How is my horse introduced to the herd?   Our barn manager sets up an introduction schedule that takes between 2-3 weeks. The first week, your horse is put in the round pen so other horses can get to know him/her with the protection of a fence. The second week, mares and geldings are split and your horse is introduced on a closer proximity to their respective gender. The following week, all horses are put back together again.  We ask horse owners to be available for the first full day of each step (and many other members at the barn also help) to monitor horse interaction.

Can I bring a stallion? No. Unfortunately stallions are not allowed on the property, nor horses that have been gelded later (i.e. past 2 years of age).

Does my horse need shots? We ask that all horse owners on the property get standard shots for their individual horses every 6 months. Our barn manager sets up a clinic in April and October for those wishing to participate with Aspen Creek Large Animal Hospital. They bring their veterinarians to our property and provide a clinic. Owners are welcome to use another vet and only need to provide proof of shots.

What if I am going on vacation? We are a close community and help each other out.  If you have a vacation planned, there is always another family willing to help out for short periods of time.

Can I bring my trailer? Our property is able to accommodate standard 2- and 4-horse trailers. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate larger camper/trailer combo trailers.

Do I need to provide my own hay? Yes. Our barn is set up to accommodate hay in a loft above each stall. Each owner is responsible for acquiring their own hay. We do have a hay conveyor belt to assist in getting hay to the loft.

Can I bring a tack box? Yes. There is room in front of each stall to accommodate a tack box for grain, saddles, etc.

What about winter feeding? Our barn manager sets up an early morning feed schedule typically November through April (based on grass availability in the pasture). All owners/renters have the option to participate in early morning feed. If you volunteer to feed on Monday mornings (for example), you drop feed for each participating member, then someone else lets out your horse on that morning.
